The Admissions Video

Summary.

We create Admissions Videos in an authentic documentary style.

This is similar to our award-winning Reportage Photography. We work quickly around the school to cover lots of subjects. The footage is then carefully edited together with music and a voiceover to create the final film.

What To Plan Before The Filming Day.

There are only two things to plan before our shoot.

You only have to do one of them yourself.

The Schedule.

This is simply a case of dividing the day into 15-20 minute slots & filling them with an exciting range of things going on around the school. It's important to remember that some academic lessons can start looking the same. A well-prepared plan will mean we can make the most of our day.

We can provide a template for this, but you will need to fill it out.

The Script.

The second is a voice-over script. Narration is a powerful tool to reinforce values and share key information with your audience whilst they watch.

We will write the first draft of this for you, which you can make changes to if you would like to, or make your own. We need 30 minutes during the day to record this.

The Big Day.

With the schedule ready, nothing can stop us!

It's as easy as 1,2,3.

1. Timings.

On the day, we will arrive 30 minutes before the first shot to sign in, get introduced & set-up. Usually this is around 8am but this is up to you.

Most day's end at 4pm but this is a bit flexible depending on what you need us to cover.

2. Schedule.

We then work through the schedule to capture all the content that we can and get some drone footage, too (if legally permitted).

We will also need 30 minutes to record the voiceover for the video, this works well at the end of the day.

3. Tea.

Please try and fit in quick tea breaks every 2 hours. Just ten minutes or so, for restrooms, battery swaps & to back up footage, and 30 minutes for lunch.

This keeps energy and organisation levels high, throughout the day.

Over to... Us!

That's a WRAP!

After the big shoot, we will send over the first edit in 2-3 weeks.

We love the editing process. This is where we craft the footage we have gathered into your story.

We will send an initial "Look & Feel" check video. This is a short 30-second clip, that will allow us to confirm that the soundtrack and style of editing are correct.

Once this feels about right to you, we will send over the full version. Each round of editing will take 1 week from then until you are happy with the final version. Before we go onto create the social media edits as per your contracted deliverables.

Watch Some Examples.

Take a look and let us know if there is something about any of the below that you would like to incorporate in your own video too!

FAQ

Tell me more about the Voiceover.

This ties the video together. It's a way of explaining who you are as a school or even just providing simple information like age ranges. We suggest getting the head-teacher or a few students to read this out.

I don't want a voiceover.

You don't have to have one. It is a great opportunity to share key information with prospective students and parents, though. We can always record this and not use it.

What about drones?

We love drones. They're awesome. We hold Commercial Drone Licenses and Insurance in the USA, UK and Europe. If we can fly a drone at your school, we will.

There are some legal limits to flying; we can't fly over crowds or in cities, but we will operate a drone within the legal parameters.

There are some key subjects not happening on video day!

It's no problem. We can easily set up anything you like. Give us the room & some students & we will make it work!

The purpose of an admissions video is to give a feel for the school. We may not need to cover or include every subject to do that.

Can we send you other footage to use in the video?

It depends. We will be shooting in very professional formats with high-end cameras in an immersive cinematic style. Will the footage you send us work well mixed in with this? We always opt for quality over quantity.

Can we shoot video on a photography day?

We can't shoot any video on a Directed Photography day unless it's a part of the concept.

If you want to use the time on a Reportage/Candid Photography day to also shoot video, it would be an additional cost if it's a significant quantity of footage.

Can the Social Media Edits have other footage?

The social media edits are designed to act like trailers for your main film. They are made up of short clips from the main video. They are not made from footage that isn't in the main video.

I have a crazy idea...

If you're after something really specific or you have an idea in mind, we would love to see it. Not everything may be possible and some ideas may effect the budget, but let's talk!
